Art and technology have always been connected. Our use of tools and technologies today has attained a very high degree of sophistication. In the arts too. This however does not guarantee that the simple use of sophisticated tools and advanced technologies generates art. We may well have invented and re-invented the wheel, but useful as it proved to be, this invention would not have lasted unless it wouldn’t have obeyed to a simple set of design principles that give it coherence and sustain and legitimate the longevity of its design. The use of technologies in the arts, particularly in the performing arts, is not exempt from having to obey to design rules. Failing to apply them leads to the production of questionable value. Integrated Information Theory may help understand why. The example of theatre in the Western tradition might help illustrate this.||A arte e a tecnologia estiveram desde sempre ligadas.
