The main objective of this paper is to show the intersection between variationist sociolinguistics and cognitive linguistics, which resulted in a new side of linguistics: cognitive sociolinguistics. In this meaning, a theoretical exposition was made on the referred areas, their main concepts and contributions, based on the studies by Silva (1997) and Ferrari (2016). In data analysis, oral samples were collected from 18 residents of the City of Tabatinga in Amazonas. The results proved that there is a semantic variation in the use of ‘mesmo’ and, at the same time, in the contexts there is of conceptual perspective operation as Langacker’s prominence (2008).||Este artigo teve como principal objetivo mostrar a intersecção entre a Sociolinguística variacionista e a Linguística Cognitiva, o que resultou em uma nova vertente da Linguística: a Sociolinguística Cognitiva. Nesse sentido, fez-se uma exposição teórica sobre as referidas áreas e seus principais conceitos e contribuições, a partir dos estudos de Silva (2010) e Ferrari (2016). Na análise dos dados, foram apresentadas amostras orais coletadas de 18 moradores do município de Tabatinga, no Amazonas. Os resultados comprovaram que há uma variação semântica no uso de ‘mesmo’ e, ao mesmo tempo, nesses contextos, há operações de perspectivação conceptual, como proeminência de Langacker (2008).
