The goal of this study is to understand the “imagination” that promotes the widely known “creativity” as a phenomenon that specifies and justifies the insertion of art in the education. It focuses on Bachelard’s conception of material imagination to emphasize the operating reverie and its capacity to transform images that design language. The in-depth study of the complex relation between body, image and word becomes the strategy to think the dilemma of art’s educative dimension: What after all do we learn in art? The importance of Gaston Bachelard’s thinking for the field of study of Art and Education stems from the assertion that the learning of art paves the way for the experience of that metamorphosis that allows the thought to deal with the simultaneous temporalities in the act of making a decision to initiate a gesture in the world. It is part of the poetic dimension of art to take a chance to configure instants that revive enthusiasms and promotes the self-assurance that designs the determination of acting in languages to configure them||Para interrogar que “imaginação” é essa que promove a propalada “criatividade” enquanto fenômeno que especifica – e justifica – a inserção da arte na educação, o estudo detém-se na fenomenologia bachelardiana da formação das imagens na leitura poética a qual promove a abertura para o estudo da imaginação – a partir do ponto de vista da imaginação material – em seu poder de metamorfosear imagens que engendram o acontecimento da linguagem. Aprofundar estudos sobre a complexa relação entre corpo, imagem e palavra torna-se estratégia para pensar a especificidade que envolve processos de criação plástica e o dilema da dimensão educativa da arte: o que afinal aprende-se em arte? A importância do pensamento de Gaston Bachelard para o campo de estudos da Educação e Arte emerge da afirmação que a aprendizagem em arte se caracteriza por viabilizar, a partir da diversidade das manifestações do tempo nos processos de criação, a experiência da metamorfose. A experiência poética ensina ao pensamento – e à pedagogia – a lidar com as temporalidades simultâneas que exigem a tomada de decisão de iniciar um gesto no mundo. É da dimensão poética da arte arriscar-se a configurar instantes que revivificam entusiasmos que duram no corpo porque promovem a confiança que engendra a determinação do agir em linguagens para configurá-los.
