A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar a atuação da Galeria de Arte Álvaro
Conde (GAAC) a partir de 1986, ano em que foi reaberta, e suas contribuições para
a ampliação do repertório das artes plásticas no estado. Para isso, faz uma leitura
histórica sobre o panorama socioeconômico e cultural do século XX, no Espírito
Santo, bem como suas interlocuções com as políticas públicas voltadas para a arte e
a cultura.
Este estudo concentra-se em um ciclo de mostras estaduais, entre 1987 e 1988, e
propõe uma reflexão sobre as exposições, a galeria e seu acervo. Ao resgatar a
história desse espaço, destaca-se sua importância para o cenário local das artes,
em contraponto com o isolamento cultural e as desiguais condições de produção e
divulgação das artes no Espírito Santo, quando comparado a outros estados do
país.||The present research aims to analyze the action the Art Gallery Álvaro Conde
(GAAC) from 1986, the year it was reopened, and their contributions to the
expansion of the repertoire of the plastic arts in the state. For this is a historical
reading of the socioeconomic and cultural landscape of century XX, the Espírito
Santo, and their dialogues with the public policies for art and culture.
This study concentrated in a cycle of state exhibitions, between 1987 and 1988, and
proposes a reflection on the exhibition, the gallery and his collection. To rescue the
history of this space, it highlights its importance to the local scenery of the arts, as
opposed to cultural isolation and unequal conditions of production and dissemination
of arts in the Espírito Santo, when compared to other states the country
