In this article, we will analyze the foundations of knowledge presented in the school program of the Parisian Canon Hugo de São Vítor (†1141) called Didascalicon: de studio legendi (1127). We start from the premise that any minimal attempt to reconstruct a theory of medieval knowledge is subject to the analysis of the relationship between man and God, especially when dealing with the analysis of the curricular proposal of Hugo de São Vitor, who even considers the theoretical dimension of mechanical arts as parts of philosophy. Therefore, we will start our study seeking to understand the recurrent concept of Wisdom in the Victorian work from the analysis of the cultural transmission of the Church Fathers' Platonisms up to the 12th century. Next, we will seek to apprehend in Hugo de São Vitor his representation of the human soul and its natural qualities (memoria and ingenium), as well as the important medieval theological concept of divine "illumination" of the human spirit, seeking to understand it as an enabler of understanding of true reality from the unwinding of the eyes of contemplation. At the end of the article, we will reflect on the advantages of this method of analyzing medieval knowledge, also pointing out the possibilities for continuing this study from other sources and thematic research subtopics.||Neste artigo, analisaremos os fundamentos do saber apresentados no programa escolar do cônego parisiense Hugo de São Vítor (†1141) de título Didáscalicon: da Arte de Ler (1127). Partimos da premissa de que qualquer tentativa mínima de reconstrução de uma teoria medieval do conhecimento está sujeita à análise da relação do homem com Deus, sobretudo se tratando da análise da proposta curricular de Hugo de São Vítor, o qual considera até mesmo a dimensão teórica (portanto divina) das artes mecânicas como partes da “filosofia” (i.e., do amor à Sapiência). Portanto, iniciaremos nosso estudo buscando compreender o recorrente conceito de Sapiência na obra vitorina a partir da análise da transmissão cultural dos platonismos dos Padres da Igreja até o século XII. Em seguida, buscaremos apreender em Hugo de São Vítor sua representação da alma humana e suas qualidades naturais (memoria e ingenium), como também o importante conceito teológico medieval de “iluminação” do espírito, buscando compreende-lo como um capacitador da compreensão da realidade verdadeira a partir do desanuviar dos olhos da contemplação. No final do artigo, faremos uma reflexão sobre as vantagens desse método de análise do conhecimento medieval, apontando também as possibilidades de continuidade deste estudo a partir de outras fontes e subtópicos de pesquisa.
