Reading is an instrument of social emancipation, helping readers reach other horizons. The objectives were: to promote the interaction between the university and the local community, mobilizing the students and employees of the institution to donate books; to create a place dedicated to reading and to awaken and stimulate the habit of reading in the inmates of the Treatment Center of dependents studied by providing accessibility to books, comics and magazines. As methodology a campaign was launched to collect books through two main vehicles: e-mail and Facebook; the onerous acquisition of an obsolete refrigerator to allocate the books and other materials needed to make the space dedicated to reading, and dialogues were held with the inmates about the importance of reading. Before the implementation of the project, three visits were carried out in order to understand the reality of the addicted inmates and to make them aware of the importance of reading. In the implementation of the project the following steps were carried out: reforming and making the “book refrigerator”; encounter with songs; declamation of poetry, and an integration coffee. The main result obtained was the participation of the inmates, which was fundamental to develop the project.
||A leitura é um instrumento de emancipação social, ajudando os leitores a alcançar outros horizontes. Os objetivos do projeto de extensão, ora relatado, foram: promover a interação entre a universidade e a comunidade local, mobilizando alunos e servidores da instituição a doarem livros, gibis e revistas; criar um ambiente dedicado à leitura neste centro; despertar e estimular o hábito de leitura nos internos do Centro de Tratamento de dependentes químicos por meio da exposição a livros, gibis e revistas. Como metodologia, foi realizada campanha de arrecadação de livros por dois veículos principais: e-mail e Facebook; a aquisição onerosa de uma geladeira obsoleta para alocação dos livros e outros materiais necessários para a confecção do espaço dedicado à leitura; além disso, foram realizados diálogos com os internos sobre a importância da leitura. Antes da implementação do projeto, foram realizadas três visitas com o intuito de conhecer a realidade dos internos adictos e sensibilizá-los quanto à importância da leitura. Na implementação do projeto foram realizadas as seguintes etapas: reforma e confecção da "geladeira de livros"; sarau com músicas; declamação de poesias; e café de integração. O principal resultado foi a participação dos internos, a qual foi fundamental para o desenvolvimento do projeto.
