The monumental buildings and wide-open spaces of the Pilot Plan defined emblematic images of Brasilia. This article seeks, however, to highlight other representations of the capital city, based on the analysis of recent memories of migrants who settled in satellite towns built on the outskirts of the capital since the end of the 1950s. Reports of experiences and practices of construction in those settlements endowed new meaning to spaces designed according to modernist principles and expressed feelings of belonging to communities linked to their place. Rather than analyzing the effective construction of satellite towns, the aim is to investigate how this process was assimilated and narrated from the subjective dimension of people who experienced it.||Os edifícios monumentais e amplos espaços abertos do Plano Piloto definiram imagens emblemáticas de Brasília. Este artigo busca, porém, destacar outras representações da capital, a partir da análise de memórias recentes de migrantes que se estabeleceram em cidades-satélites construídas na periferia de Brasília desde fins dos anos 50. Os relatos de experiências e práticas de construção naqueles núcleos dão novos significados a espaços concebidos segundo princípios modernistas e expressam sentimentos de pertencimento a comunidades vinculadas ao lugar. Mais do que analisar a efetiva construção de cidades-satélites, pretende-se investigar o modo como esse processo foi assimilado e narrado na dimensão subjetiva de quem o vivenciou.
