In this article, we will draw a brief comparison between the function and aspects of theater critics based on three books: Apelos, which is a collection of texts written by the French thinker, director and playwright Jacques Copeau. The collection shows the search for a kind of theather critic who does not submit himself/herself for the commercialtheater; Another book that we analyze is A função da Crítica, which brings three essays of the Brazilian theater critics Barbara Heliodora, Jefferson Del Rios and Sabato Magaldi. These three essays are discussions about the work and the place of theater critic; Written by Daniele Avila Small, O crítico ignorante is the last book that we present tothis article and it proposes a discussion about the critical activity based on studies of the French philosopher Jacques Rancière||Neste artigo traçaremos um breve paralelo entre a visão da função e dos as- pectos da crítica teatral a partir de três livros: Apelos, coletânea de textos do pensador, diretor e dramaturgo francês Jacques Copeau, que revelam a cobrança por um crítico que não se submeta ao jogo comercial do teatro; A função da crítica, que traz três ensaios dos críticos teatrais brasileiros Barbara Heliodora, Jefferson Del Rios e Sábato Magaldi, que discutem tanto o fazer quanto o lugar do crítico no cenário teatral; O crítico ignorante, da pesquisadora Daniele Avila Small, que propõe uma discussão da atividade crítica a partir dos estudos do filósofo francês Jacques Rancière.
