Resumo: A presente pesquisa propõe investigar a transmissão da mensagem (DEBRAY, 1993), onde se combinam cultura e tecnologia, a fim de entender como a transmissão televisiva incorporou o jogo de futebol, com êxito, ao longo dos anos. Para isso, analisou-se a materialização das Copas do Mundo na televisão por meio da sua construção representativa do espaço e tempo (CASETTI, 1999; JOST, 2009), pontuado em três momentos de modificações técnicas: o surgimento, a transição e consolidação de uma nova tecnologia. A hipótese defendida é que conforme muda o modo de produção televisivo, ou seja, sua morfogênese, muda também seu regime de visualidade, a sua natureza e, principalmente, a maneira pela qual ela nos dá a conhecer a existência do jogo.Palavras-chave: futebol; Copa do Mundo; midiologia; televisão; comunicação. Soccer and Technology: an Analysis of the World Cup's Television Broadcasting through the Concepts of Mediology Abstract: This research proposes to investigate the transmission of the message (DEBRAY, 1993), which combine culture and technology in order to understand how the broadcasting entered the soccer game successfully over the years. For this, we analyzed the realization of the World Cup on television through its representative construction of space and time (CASETTI, 1999; JOST, 2009), aimed three times to technical modifications: the advent, transition and consolidation of a new technology.
