Resumo: O presente artigo se dedica ao estudo do filme “O jogo da vida”, de Maurice Capovilla, tendo como premissa ser este longa-metragem adaptação do conto “Malagueta, Perus e Bacanaço”, de João Antônio. Assim, interessa aqui o entendimento da estrutura fílmica através da ideia de adaptação ou transposição da linguagem escrita para o meio audiovisual, bem como entender as heranças da obra de João Antônio presentes no filme de Capovilla e a relevância de “O jogo da vida” para o cinema brasileiro.||The present article analyses the film “The game of life”, by Maurice Capovilla, considering the premise that this film adaptation of the tale “Malagueta, Perus and Bacanaço”, by João Antônio. It is though relevant to understand the film structure through the idea of adaptation or transposition of written language to the audiovisual media. It is also important to understand the legacy of João Antonio’s work in Capovilla’s film, and the relevance of “The game of life” to Brazilian cinema.
