This article aims to discuss the complex narrative setting of two important Latin American literary works: Pedro Paramo, by Juan Rulfo, written in 1955, and El último lector, by David Toscana, written in 2004. There are many aspects in common between them, but the main one is the way they hold in History the power that allows both novels, as being art works, to collect the real and deep movement of Latin American History||Este artigo tem por objetivo discutir o complexo ambiente narrativo de duas importantes obras da literatura latino-americana: Pedro Páramo, de Juan Rulfo, de 1955, e El último lector, de David Toscana, de 2004. Muitos são os aspectos comuns entre os dois romances mexicanos, mas se aproximam, principalmente, por manterem na história a força que as possibilitam, enquanto arte, captarem o movimento real e profundo da história na América Latina.
