The content presented here refers to a study conducted preliminary on the panel "Contested - Earth Contested" the Hassis Artist, based on discursive semiotics. In this large painting, the artist presents a visual narrative of Sertaneja Contested War (1914-1916) whose images enable an invitation for reflection, not only as "visual report" of history, but as calling for the construction of a sense for visual text, to organize the look and direct you to another way of seeing and feeling the episode portrayed in it.||O conteúdo aqui apresentado refere-se a um estudo desenvolvido preliminarmente acerca do painel “Contestado – Terra Contestada” do artista Hassis (Curitiba, 1926 – Florianópolis, 2001), com base na semiótica discursiva. A pintura, de grandes dimensões, apresenta uma narrativa visual da Guerra Sertaneja do Contestado (1914-1916). As imagens são um convite à reflexão, não apenas enquanto “relato visual” da História, mas como convocação à construção de sentidos, instigando o organizando o olhar, de modo a engendrar novas possibilidades de interpretação.
