This paper has the purpose to outline a panorama on research in progress, that has been developed since late 2019 and that is on its second stage, which is titled Memories of the Institute of Lettes of the Federal University of Bahia. The main goal of the project is to recount a narrative of the Institute of Letters history of the Federal University of Bahia since its creation, its development, its fields of research and teaching, focusing on the course of its history, and its importance for the education of active researchers and professors in the fields of Letters locally, regionally and nationwide. With regards to theory and methodology, this research is characterized by its interdisciplinarity on the grounds of interacting with the fields of Philology, academic archives, Paleography, Diplomatics, History of Education in Brazil, Linguistic and Literary Historiography and Digital Humanities, given that it is an aim to provide free access, through the internet, to analyzed and classified archives, as well as to editions of most significance. The first findings of this research are succinctly depicted, along with the issues and challenges that this research project came across during the first years.||Este artigo tem o propósito de apresentar um panorama do andamento da pesquisa desenvolvida desde finais de 2019 e que se encontra em sua segunda fase, cujo projeto intitula-se Memória do Instituto de Letras da UFBA. O objetivo geral do projeto é apresentar uma narrativa da história do Instituto de Letras da UFBA, desde a sua criação, seu desenvolvimento, as áreas de pesquisa e de ensino focadas ao longo de sua história e sua importância para a formação de pesquisadores e docentes atuantes na área das Letras local, regional e nacionalmente. Teórica e metodologicamente, a pesquisa se caracteriza pela interdisciplinaridade, transitando nas áreas da Filologia Textual, dos acervos documentais acadêmicos, da Paleografia, da Diplomática, da História da Educação no Brasil, da Historiografia Linguística e Literária e das Humanidades Digitais, já que se pretende dar amplo acesso, através da internet, ao acervo documental classificado e analisado, bem como às edições dos mais significativos. Aqui são apresentados, resumidamente, os primeiros resultados da pesquisa bem como os problemas e desafios encontrados nestes primeiros anos.
