Women are the majority in the clothing construction sectors, especially in sewing. Focusing on Brazil, this study seeks to understand the participation of black women in the sewing sector in Brazil in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Thus, information was sought about the profession of seamstress within the production chain, rescuing, at the narrative level, a role that until today has little presence in the history of fashion and clothing. Making use of a bibliographical and historical research, it was sought, through the methodology of intersectionality and the concept of Amefricanity, to prove the relationship of black women with the subordinate work that involves sewing and the desire to maintain the place of the feminine.||As mulheres são maioria nos setores da construção do vestuário, sobretudo na costura. Com foco no Brasil, este estudo busca entender a participação da mulher negra no setor da costura no Brasil nos séculos XIX e início do século XX. Assim, buscaram-se informações sobre a profissão de costureira dentro da cadeia produtiva resgatando, no plano narrativo, um papel que até hoje tem escassa presença na história da moda e do vestuário. Fazendo uso de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e histórica, buscou-se por meio da metodologia da interseccionalidade e o conceito de Amefricanidade comprovar a relação das mulheres negras com o trabalho subalterno que envolve a costura e o desejo de manutenção do lugar do feminino.
