O objetivo do presente ar tigo é debater, a partir de uma bibliografia sobre a formação do samba e sua consolidação como canção urbana brasileira do início do século, aspectos da atuação dos primeiros sambistas dentro do contexto em que estes estavam inseridos na produção cultural à época. O texto procura destacar o caráter estratégico dessa atuação e desconstruir certas noções que conferem à formação do samba uma interpretação romantizada e pouco atenta à capacidade de intervenção destes sambistas no cenário cultural do seu tempo.||The aim of the present article is to debate aspects of the actuation of the first samba artists within the context in which they were inserted in the cultural production of the period, based on a bibliography about the formation of samba and its consolidation as the Brazilian urban song of the beginning of the century. The text attempts to highlight the strategic character of this actuation and to deconstruct certain notions that give the formation of samba a romanticized interpretation that does not pay enough attention to the capacity of intervention and organization of these samba artists within the cultural scene of their time.
