This article reflects on the relations between the ideas and practices of Eugenio Barba and the Brazilian theatre. Based on the critical analysis of the numerous visits by Barba, Julia Varley and Odin Teatret (as well as other groups related to ISTA – International School of Theatre Anthropology) – which left a recognizable mark on the field of theatrical experimentation in Brazil –, the text addresses the processes related to the movement of theatre groups, especially in the 80s and 90s, a period in which the ideas of Barba and the groups related to the Third Theater began to circulate in the country.||Este artigo apresenta uma reflexão sobre as relações entre o pensamento e a prática de Eugenio Barba e a cena brasileira. A partir da análise crítica das inúmeras visitas de Barba, Julia Varley e do Odin Teatret (além de outros grupos relacionados com a ISTA – International School of Theatre Anthropology) – que deixaram uma marca reconhecível no campo da experimentação teatral do país –, o texto aborda os processos relacionados com o movimento de grupos da cena brasileira, principalmente nos anos 80 e 90, período no qual as ideias de Barba e dos grupos relacionados com o Terceiro Teatro começaram a circular no país.
