This paper discusses the challenges that are being posed to Literature as a source of scientific information in History. This question is demonstrated with academic literature, in particular with some case studies of the last ten years. It is observed that the contribution of Literature as a source of historical information is authentic, comprehensive in time and crosswise to its textual genres. However, in order to make it happen, literary works must be problematized with the meticulousness required by historiography. It is concluded that Literature and History must unite themselves in an interdisciplinary way, in favour of scientific knowledge. ||Este trabalho discute os desafios que estão sendo colocados à Literatura enquanto fonte de informação científica da História. Ilustra-se a questão com literatura acadêmica, nomeadamente com alguns casos de estudo dos últimos dez anos. Verifica-se que o contributo da Literatura como fonte de informação histórica é autêntico, abrangente no tempo e transversal aos seus gêneros textuais. No entanto, para que tal aconteça, as obras literárias devem ser problematizadas com o rigor que a historiografia exige. Conclui-se que a Literatura e a História se devem unir-se de forma interdisciplinar, em prol do conhecimento científico.
