In the present article we intend to demonstrate some of the constitutive traits of the philosopher Hélène Metzger thought and philosophical method. Based on this, we highlight the mission of the science historian in observing the development of human thought throughout the history of science. We will demonstrate the function of multiple a priori in this development, the need for analogies, the way they were used by humanity and specifically their use in understanding the concepts of evolution elaborated by Metzger.||No presente artigo temos a pretensão de demonstrar alguns dos traços constitutivos do pensamento e do método filosófico da filósofa Hélène Metzger. A partir disto, destacamos a missão do historiador das ciências na constatação do desenvolvimento do pensamento humano ao longo da história das ciências. Demonstraremos a função dos múltiplos a priori nesse desenvolvimento, a necessidade de analogias, o modo como elas foram utilizadas pela humanidade e, especificamente, a sua utilização no entendimento dos conceitos de evolução elaborados por Metzger.
