The heritage education is today an institutionalized theme by IPHAN, being the academic production on the growing issue last years. Added to this, the initiatives within national and international policies that significantly broadened the sense of cultural heritage and education (such as teaching-learning) beyond the realms of living-class and objects of "stone and limeâ€. Although anthropology occupies a prominent place in studies of cultural heritage currently the subject of heritage education is still relatively far from the anthropological reflections. This paper analyzes the important of heritage education in Brazilian contemporary scene and the possible of anthropology for this "field" boiling.||A educação patrimonial é um tema amplamente divulgado pelo IPHAN atualmente; não por acaso, se observa um crescimento na produção acadêmica sobre o assunto nos últimos anos. Somam-se a isso as iniciativas desenvolvidas no âmbito das políticas nacionais e internacionais que contribuíram significativamente para a ampliação de sentido do patrimônio cultural e da educação (como processos de ensino-aprendizagem) para além dos domínios da sala de aula e dos objetos de “pedra e cal”. Embora a antropologia ocupe um lugar de destaque nos estudos sobre patrimônio cultural na atualidade, o tema da educação patrimonial ainda continua relativamente distante das reflexões dos antropólogos. Este texto analisa a importância da educação patrimonial no cenário brasileiro contemporâneo e a contribuição possível da antropologia para esse “campo” em ebulição.
