This paper aims to establish a comparison between the short stories As mãos dos pretos, by mozambican writer Luís Bernardo Honwana, and O pecado, by brazilian author Lima Barreto, denouncing the institutional racism (ALMEIDA, 2019) and the everyday racism (KILOMBA, 2019) present in both narratives. Therefore, based on theoretical texts which discuss, majorly, racism and black literature, it is possible to notice how Church as an institution appears in the short stories as (re)producer of racist discourses which diminish and exclude black people. Furthermore, it is poited out the way in which institutional racism and everyday racism feed into each other, sustaining the continuity of racial discrimination.||Este artigo tem por objetivo estabelecer uma comparação entre os contos As mãos dos pretos, do escritor moçambicano Luís Bernardo Honwana, e O pecado, do autor brasileiro Lima Barreto, denunciando o racismo institucional (ALMEIDA, 2019) e o racismo cotidiano (KILOMBA, 2019) presentes nas duas narrativas. Portanto, com base em textos teóricos que discutem, majoritariamente, racismo e literatura negra, é possível notar como a Igreja enquanto instituição surge nos contos como (re)produtora de discursos racistas que inferiorizam e excluem a população negra. Além disso, aponta-se a forma como o racismo institucional e o racismo cotidiano retroalimentam-se, sustentando a continuidade da discriminação racial.
