The present analysis aims at showing that the anonymous narrator of the short story “Se eu seria personagem” – included in Tutaméia (Terceiras Estórias) (1967), by João Guimarães Rosa – is an individual doubly double. His friend Titolívio Sérvulo and his beloved Orlanda are his complementary faces. With Titolívio, he forms a pair of intimates and rivals. Titolívio is the other that carries out his deeper aspirations. In relation to Orlanda, she is the female half that he lacks and the one he searches for anxiously. They form the necessary polarity to the achievement of love.||A presente análise visa mostrar que o anônimo narrador do conto “Se eu seria personagem” – presente no volume Tutaméia (Terceiras Estórias) (1967), de João Guimarães Rosa – é um ser duplamente duplo. O amigo Titolívio Sérvulo e a amada Orlanda são as suas faces complementares. Com o primeiro, forma uma dupla de íntimos e rivais. Titolívio é o outro que realiza suas aspirações mais profundas. No que se refere à Orlanda, esta é a metade feminina que lhe falta e pela qual busca ansiosamente. Com ela forma a polaridade necessária à realização do amor.
