O objetivo deste estudo é reconstituir, a partir das memórias de práticas pedagógicas de três professores, como a educação religiosa se desenvolveu, no espaço rural de Novo Hamburgo/RS na primeira metade do século XX. As memórias são analisadas sob a perspectiva do “tempo social”, envolvendo recordações coletivas desse grupo de sujeitos. A pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa, utiliza a metodologia da História Oral, valendo-se ainda da análise documental. O referencial teórico sustenta-se na perspectiva da História Cultural. A análise enfatiza a dimensão das memórias na constituição docente e ressalta como o catecismo religioso evidencia uma possível marca de identidade profissional cuja representação vocacional é entendida como prática cultural arraigada aos sujeitos. Teacher practices and religious education in schools in countryside (Novo Hamburgo/RS)Abstract The objective of this study is to reconstruct, from the teaching practices memories of three teachers, how religious education was developed in rural areas of Novo Hamburgo/RS in the first half of the twentieth century. Memories are analyzed from the perspective of "social time", involving collective memories of this group of subjects. The research was qualitative, using the methodology of oral history and document analysis. The theoretical framework rests on the prospect of Cultural History. The analysis emphasizes the dimension of the memories in the teaching constitution and highlights how religious catechism evidences of a possible brand of professional identity whose vocational representation is understood as rooted cultural practice by the subjects.
