Protagonizando acontecimento relevante para o campo da midiologia, Fernandes Pinheiro publicou, em 1859, estudo sobre a mítica introdução da imprensa no Brasil pelos holandeses. Considerado marco histórico para o conhecimento jornalístico brasileiro, o episódio é resgatado no presente artigo, que focaliza a conjuntura em que o trabalho foi divulgado, discutindo o papel ocupado pelos personagens principais, além de caracterizar sua autoria, a tese, os argumentos e o impacto na sociedade.||The aim of this article is to rescue the seminal event of the Brazilian Journalistic Research. By reviewing authorship, thesis and arguments of the study written by Fernandes Pinheiro (1859) it also explains the role played by the main research agents. Another focus is the social impact caused by the historical recognition of Dutch colonizers as early introducers of typography in Brazil.
