This article in question focuses on the influence of the railroad in socio-spatial diffusion of soccer in Rio Claro in a defined historical period, extending from the end of 19th century to the first half of the 20th century. Among the theoretical frameworks of the period can cite the year 1892, which corresponds to the establishment of the workshops of the Companhia Paulista in Rio Claro; the year 1909, making official the foundation of the Rio Claro Football Club; and the year 1948, which formalizes the entrance of the club in the professionalism. Therefore, this study aimed to understand: the influence of Companhia Paulista from the formation to the professionalization of Rio Claro Futebol Clube; the social, cultural, political and economic broader aspects that are involved in this process; and the elitist logic that was present as the background at the origin of this club.||O artigo em questão focaliza a influência da ferrovia na difusão socioespacial do futebol em Rio Claro em um período histórico delimitado, que se estende do final do século XIX até a primeira metade do século XX. Dentre os referenciais teóricos do período pode-se citar o ano de 1892, o qual corresponde ao estabelecimento das oficinas da Companhia Paulista em Rio Claro; o ano de 1909, que oficializa a fundação do Rio Claro Futebol Clube; e o ano de 1948, o qual formaliza o ingresso do referido clube no profissionalismo. Portanto, objetivou-se compreender: a influência da Companhia Paulista desde a formação até a profissionalização do Rio Claro Futebol Clube; os aspectos sociais, culturais, políticos e econômicos mais amplos que se encontram envolvidos neste processo; e a lógica elitista que esteve presente como plano de fundo na origem desta agremiação.
