2010 has been the year of commemoration for the heroic deeds of Independence in whole Iberoamerica. Thus, "200 years of independence" were celebrated through national celebrations denoted as "Bicentennial". These celebrations were created to irradiate the concord and the unity between citizens, and put in the center of the theater of memory a pacific idea of the past that could legitimate the political use of the present. However, in Mexico, some political subjects and social movements criticized the sense of the celebration (what kind of past, for what kind of present?). Their action is a demonstration of the memory as a battle field, and that the struggle for the memory is also a struggle for the present.||El año 2010 ha sido el momento de la conmemoración de las gestas de las independencias en toda Iberoamérica. De esta manera, “200 años de vida independiente” fueron celebrados a partir de una serie de fiestas estatales que llevaron por nombre “Bicentenario”. Orquestadas con la intención de irradiar concordia y unidad entre los ciudadanos, estas celebraciones pusieron en el centro del teatro de la memoria una idea pacificada del pasado que legitimaba el uso político del presente. Sin embargo, particularmente en México, una serie de actores y movimientos sociales cuestionaron el sentido de la celebración (¿qué pasado, para qué presente?). Su acción demuestra que la memoria es un campo de batalla y que la disputa por la memoria es también una disputa por el presente.
