The conservation of the old Santapaula Yacht Club, in Interlagos neighborhood, gives rise to a reading of this work that transcends the technical and constructive aspects of the consecrated brutalist architecture of the Boathouse of João Vilanova Artigas and Carlos Cascaldi. Opened in early 1960s, the yacht club represents a particular facet of optimistic modernity of the post-World War II period, betting in new spaces and programs of use. The work’s conservation process by the municipal heritage conservation office enables to envisage its meaning as a cultural manifestation of the construction of São Paulo’s modern metropolis.||O tombamento do antigo Santapaula Iateclube, no bairro de Interlagos, enseja uma leitura desta obra que transcende os aspectos técnico-construtivos da consagrada arquitetura brutalista da Garagem de Barcos de João Vilanova Artigas e Carlos Cascaldi, integrante do conjunto tombado. Inaugurado no início dos anos 1960, o clube náutico representa uma faceta particular da modernidade otimista do período do pós-Segunda Guerra Mundial, apostando em novos espaços e programas de uso. O processo de proteção da obra pelo órgão municipal de preservação do patrimônio permite vislumbrar o seu significado como manifestação cultural da construção da moderna metrópole paulistana.
