In April 2023, Nicolás Maduro completed his ten-year presidential term in Venezuela. Under his government, the country has entered a castastrophic scenario, in which various crises have come together, including political, economic and humanitarian ones. As a result, in 2023, the second largest number of displaced people in the world will be Venezuelan, with 7.13 million. The relevance of this issue to the history of the present day in Latin America is the subject of this article. We will discuss Operation Welcome, launched by Brazil in March 2018, and the hybrid border between our country and Venezuela. We will also examine Venezuelan history between 1999-2023 in order to understand historical Chavismo and the so-called Bolivarian revolution.||Em abril de 2023, Nicolás Maduro completou dez anos de mandato presidencial na Venezuela. Em seu governo, o país ingressou em um cenário castastrófico, no qual conjugaram-se diversas crises, como a política, a econômica e a humanitária. Em decorrência disso, em 2023, o segundo maior número de deslocados do mundo é venezuelano, com 7.13 milhões. A relevância do tema para a história do tempo presente latino-americana é objeto de análise deste artigo. Debateremos a Operação Acolhida, iniciada pelo Brasil em março de 2018, e a fronteira híbrida entre o nosso país e a Venezuela. Examinaremos, ainda, a História venezuelana entre 1999-2023 com o intuito de compreender o chavismo histórico e a intitulada revolução bolivariana.
