The objective of this work is to undertake a critical about science´s development though history, contextualising the element that give the orinin of the positivist science. Consequently, we have done a bibliographical research on the theme in question, systematizing some observations and reflections concerning this process. It is possible to say that the characateristics of this conception of science are present in the current human thought. Tow aspected: a) The positivist science has changed the perspective that man had about himself and the universe, and his relation with it. b) The science has changed limitations once it did not have the answers to many of the problems faced by society, since they require social and political solutions and not only scientific and technical. Due to these limitations, different proposals to science have surged: to become the means by which the scientist move from being the agent of research and social control to a participant element including himself in the research process. It is necessary them that new ways of actions are developed, different from those proposed by the positivist science.||Este trabalho tem como objetivo realizar uma discussão crítica sobre o desenvolvimento da ciência através de história, contextualizando os elementos que dão origem à ciência positivista. Para tanto, realizamos um levantamento bibliográfico sobre o tema em questão, sistematizando algumas observações e reflexões referentes a este processo. Pode-se dizer que as características desta concepção de ciência estão presentes no pensamento humano da atualidade. Dois aspectos são destacados: a) a ciência positivista mudou a perspectiva que o homem tinha de si mesmo e do universo, e de sua relação para com estes; b) a ciência proposta por Conte, apresentava limitações na medida em que não tinha respostas para muitos problemas enfrentados pela sociedade, uma vez que, requeiram soluções políticas, sociais e não somente científicas ou técnicas. Em função dessa limitação, surgem propostas diferentes para a ciência: transformar-se num meio através do qual o cientista passe de sujeito da pesquisa e controle social para um sujeito participante, que se inclua no processo de pesquisa. É necessário então que se procure desenvolver novas formas de ação diferente das propostas pela ciência positivista.
