The study analyzes Riobaldo’s discourse, situating the maternal voice in this discourse. To do this, it presents the mode of incorporation of another’s discourse, taking into account the presence of the maternal voice, as well as other feminine voices that emerge in the narrator’s discourse. The analysis is based on the dialogic perspective on discourse, presented by Bakhtin and the Circle. We begin with the principle that Riobaldo’s discourse is dialogic, populated with innumerable voices, like any other discourse. We present the ways that the words of others appear in this discourse, demonstrating the subordination of feminine voices in Riobaldo’s discourse, emphasizing that mother Bigri figures silently, surreptitiously in this discourse. However, we find that in the saga the maternal voice in Riobaldo’s discourse becomes incorporated in a preponderant way.
||O estudo realiza uma análise do discurso de Riobaldo, situando a presença da voz materna nesse discurso. Nesse intuito, apresenta o modo de incorporação do discurso de outrem, tendo em vista a presença da voz materna, bem como de outras vozes femininas que emergem no discurso do narrador. A análise é fundamentada na perspectiva dialógica do discurso, apresentada por Bakhtin e o Círculo. Partimos do princípio de que o discurso de Riobaldo é dialógico, povoado de inúmeras vozes, como qualquer discurso. Nessa perspectiva apresentamos as formas de presença da palavra alheia no discurso, demonstrando como as vozes femininas são ali submetidas, enfatizando que a mãe Bigri figura nesse discurso de modo silencioso, sub-repticiamente. Entretanto, na saga efetuada, a voz materna está incorporada de maneira preponderante no corpo discursivo de Riobaldo.
