Este trabalho versa sobre a temática das culturas populares com ênfase no universo de alguns
dos aspectos da música tradicional nordestina costumeiramente presentes no cenário dos ciclos
carnavalesco e junino. Tendo como objeto de estudo a agremiação Boi da Macuca, a pesquisa
propõe reflexões sobre os conceitos de hibridação, que contará com o aporte teórico a partir dos
escritos do antropólogo social Néstor García Canclini; as concepções sobre contracultura, cujo
referencial teórico se dará a partir das leituras do autor Carlos Alberto Messeder Pereira e,
como terceiro conceito aplicado neste estudo, lançaremos um olhar sobre as tradições, que terá
o debate teórico embasado nas ideias do historiador Eric Hobsbawm. O estudo propõe um
cenário para um entendimento no qual os conceitos estão articulados com diversas
manifestações da agremiação investigada. Nos capítulos 1 e 2, o texto apresenta um breve
panorama sobre uma etnografia do Boi da Macuca. Desta forma, entendemos que, apresentados
alguns traços que caracterizam a Macuca, a leitura poderá oferecer maior solidez e situar melhor
as reflexões ao chegar ao terceiro e último capítulo, quando a pesquisa procura estabelecer
conexões entre a prática do Boi da Macuca e a fundamentação teórica abordada. Considerando
a trajetória do Boi, que teve inflexões em seu fazer musical ao longo dos anos, o trabalho abraça
a ideia de contribuir com uma reflexão sobre as transformações ocorridas na música produzida
nas festas da Macuca — no palco e na rua — como uma possível fonte para a compreensão do
significado para as manifestações de brincantes.||This work is the result of observations drawn from popular cultures with an emphasis on the
universe of some aspects of traditional northeastern music usually present in the scene of the
carnival and June parties. Taking the carnival block Boi da Macuca as its object of study, the
research proposes reflections on the concepts of hybridization, which will be based on the
theoretical framework supported by the writings of the social anthropologist Néstor Garcia
Canclini; the conceptions about counterculture, whose theoretical reference will be based on
the readings of the author Carlos Alberto Messeder Pereira and, as a third concept applied in
this study, we will investigate the traditions, which will have the theoretical debate based on
the ideas of the historian Eric Hobsbaw. The study proposes a scenario for an understanding in
which the concepts are articulated with different manifestations of the carnival block
investigated. In chapters 1 and 2, the text presents a brief panorama of an ethnography of Boi
da Macuca. Thus, we understand that, by presenting some features that characterize Macuca,
the reading can offer greater solidity and better situate the reflections upon reaching the third
and final chapter, when the research aims to establish connections between the practice of Boi
da Macuca and the theoretical framework that underlies this study. Considering Boi ́s trajectory,
which showed alterations in its musical performance throughout the years, this work aims to
trigger the reflexion upon the transformations occurred in the music produced at Macuca parties
– on stage and in the street – as a possible source to understand the meaning of the participants ́
manifestations.
