This article aims to investigate some ways through which the classical tradition became present in eighteenth century Brazil. More precisely, through an examination of the arrangements and uses of Greco-Roman antiquity developed in the intellectual community around Colégio Pedro II during the first decades of its activity. It expects to reconstruct the appropriation of certain narratives on the roman political experience and its reworking in the context of broader eighteenth century debates.||O objetivo deste artigo é investigar algumas formas através das quais "a tradição clássica" se tornou presente no Brasil oitocentista. Mais especificamente, a partir da investigação sobre as formas e os usos da antiguidade greco-romana no Colégio Pedro II, nas suas primeiras décadas de funcionamento (entre 1837 e 1860), procura-se reconstituir a apropriação de determinadas narrativas sobre a experiência política romana e suas atualizações em debates oitocentistas.
